Which Metal Carport Roof Style Is Best? Compare All Options
Selecting the right metal carport roof style depends on your budget, climate, and long-term needs. Some homeowners prioritize affordability, while others want enhanced durability or a more traditional appearance. Understanding the differences between each option will help you choose the best structure to protect your vehicles and property.
Regular Roof Metal Carports
Our most economical option, the regular-style roof features a rounded design that delivers reliable coverage and dependable vehicle protection at an affordable price.
Boxed-Eave (A-Frame) Metal Carports
The boxed-eave roof offers a clean A-frame appearance with horizontal panels that protect against sun, rain, and light snow. It provides a more traditional look at a lower cost than a vertical roof.
Vertical Roof Metal Carports
For maximum durability, the vertical roof style is the premium choice. Vertical galvanized steel panels allow rain, snow, and debris to slide off easily, making it ideal for harsher climates and long-term performance.
Metal Carport Parts & Features Explained
Understanding the components of your metal carport helps you make confident, informed decisions. Below is a breakdown of the key structural elements that make your building strong, secure, and built to last.
Base Rails
Heavy-duty rectangular tubing that forms the foundation of your carport. The legs are secured directly to these rails for stability and support.
Bows / Trusses
Engineered roof supports made from bent rectangular tubing. These structural members create the roof shape and provide the strength needed to withstand wind and weather.
Concrete Anchors (Redheads)
Specialized anchors used to secure your carport or steel building to an existing or newly poured concrete slab for maximum stability.
Corner Braces
Reinforcement components designed to reduce side-to-side movement. The number and size included depend on the height and width of your structure.
Gable Ends
Horizontal panels that close the triangular opening at the end of the building, creating a clean, finished look and added protection.
Garage / Roll-Up Doors
Doors that roll into a compact cylinder above the opening, saving space and allowing for smooth operation. Additional leg height may be required depending on door size.
Headers
Structural supports installed above side openings to carry the load of the roof trusses when doors or cut-outs are placed along the side of the building.
Legs
Vertical framing tubes that determine the height of your structure and connect to the roof trusses for overall support.
Steel Paneling
26- or 29-gauge steel panels, 3 feet wide, available in standard lengths of 21’, 26’, and 31’. Multiple color options are available, with specialty colors offered at an additional cost.
Ridge Cap
Installed on vertical roof styles, the ridge cap seals and protects the peak where both roof panels meet.
Tubing
Constructed from 12- or 14-gauge galvanized rectangular steel tubing and backed by a 20-year limited rust-through warranty.
Walk-In Doors
Standard 36” x 80” exterior-style doors, primed white and installed as out-swing units. Also come in black for certain locations, and 6 panel upgrade available in all locations.
